Muxo

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

The short version: Muxo has no accounts, no ads, no tracking and no analytics. Your media, your watch history and your server logins stay between your device and the servers you add.

Who we are

Muxo is an app for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV that plays media from servers you already use (such as Plex, Emby, Jellyfin and Silo). Muxo is a player — it doesn't provide any content. If you have a question about this policy, email muxodev@icloud.com.

No accounts, no ads, no tracking

  • You don't create an account with us. You sign in to your own media servers.
  • Muxo shows no ads and contains no advertising or analytics tools.
  • We don't track you across apps or websites, and we don't sell or share your data.

Your data stays between your device and your servers

When you browse or play something, Muxo talks directly to the servers you've added. Your library, watch history, progress and server sign-in details are exchanged with those servers only. We never receive them. Your server sign-in details are kept in your device's secure storage (Keychain).

iCloud

If you use iCloud, Muxo can sync your settings and your list of servers between your own devices through your Apple account. This data is stored by Apple under your iCloud account; we can't see it. You can turn this off in Muxo's settings or in iCloud settings.

Bug reports you choose to send

If you tap Send Bug Report, Muxo sends what you write plus some technical details to help us fix the problem: your device model, iOS/tvOS version, Muxo version, your server's software and version, and a recent app log. Passwords, tokens and keys are removed from the log before it is sent. Reports go to our support system (a private channel our team reads) and are used only to fix bugs. Nothing is sent unless you send a report.

Artwork, ratings and subtitles

To show artwork, ratings and subtitles, Muxo may look up a title (for example by its name or database ID) with these services:

  • TMDB (The Movie Database) — artwork, cast and upcoming episodes.
  • MDBList — ratings such as IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.
  • OpenSubtitles — when you search for subtitles.

These lookups contain the title being looked up, not your name or account. Each service has its own privacy policy.

Trakt and Simkl (optional)

If you choose to connect Trakt or Simkl, Muxo sends what you watch to that service so it can keep your history. This only happens after you connect it, and you can disconnect at any time.

Silo history import (optional)

If you use Silo's history import, Muxo sends your Plex sign-in token, or your Emby/Jellyfin sign-in, once to your own Silo server so it can copy your watch history. It goes from your device straight to your Silo server. We don't receive it and Muxo doesn't keep it after the import.

Children

Muxo isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Muxo includes optional profile, passcode and content-limit settings for families; these settings stay on your device and your servers.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update it on this page and change the date at the top. Important changes will also be announced in the app or on our Discord.
